Types of Roles On Knorish

This article shares an overview of the types of user roles available on a Knorish Account. Each user role in your account is associated with different privileges.

Users

There are four main types of user roles in Knorish — the primary owner, instructors, editors, and students. If you’re on the professional & power plan, then you can also create custom roles, which allow you to pick and choose which privileges to grant a user in your academy/courses.

Depending on the plan that you have subscribed to, you can have multiple instructors and editors i.e admin-level users with different privileges. On any plan, you can have an unlimited amount of students in your school except for free plan which currently restricts user count to upto 3 students. 


Types of Users

Primarily any one who logins to your Knorish Site is a User. This includes users (instructors & Editors) with special privileges and others who sign up to purchase your course.


 

To give access to multiple course authors, login to your Knorish account, access the dashboard, under Identity & Access, you would be able to see the details of users who have access to your account. 



Besides the Account Owner, there are two more primary roles available: Instructors & Editors. 

Instructors: 

Instructors are primarily course authors with privileges that are limited to the course they are designated by a academy admin. By default, once an instructor is designated to a course, they can do the following:

    • Modify their Author Bio
    • Create a Course
    • Change Course Settings
    • Publish/ Unpublish courses

However, an Instructor does not have the rights to update the site including its menu bar design, logos and the site Favicon.


Editors:

Editors are profiles that allow the user to edit the site, create new pages with access to pages that he/she created or has been assigned. Based on the permissions granted, an editor can do the following:

    • Change Site Home Page
    • Edit site, specific pages assigned
    • Create and edit new pages based on assigned rights
    • Manage the Site Pages and their order
    • Upload logos for the site, user dashboard, Emailer and certificate, and site Favicon
    • Design The Menu
    • Upload Files To Get File Embed Codes/URL
    • Create Custom CSS
    • Create Custom JSS
    • Select & Edit Themes for specific pages
