Disable or discourage search engines from indexing your knorish site

When you need to keep your entire Knorish site hidden from search engine results, for privacy, during website development, or for other reasons, checking the checkbox as shown below effectively adds a special meta tag that discourages search engines from indexing your site. Here's how to do it:

Disable Search Indexing for entire site

  • Log in to your Knorish account
  • In the dashboard, go to 'Settings' and then click on 'General'
  • Scroll down to 'Other Settings', select the option - Discourage search engines from indexing this site
  • Click on Save

Disable or discourage search engines from indexing a specific page

For times when only a single page, such as a private 'Thank You' page or exclusive content, needs to be hidden from search engines, this method allows you to selectively control the visibility of those  individual pages on your site.

Disable Search Indexing for specific page

  • In the dashboard, click on Pages under Website Builder
  • Go the the page you wish to disable indexing for
  • On the right hand side, under Actions, select Settings.
  • Under Edit page, scroll down to the bottom and select the option - Discourage search engine
  • Click On Save

Note:

  • It is up to the search engines to honor the request to not index the site or the specific page in question.
  • Deselecting the option 'Discourage search engine' would allow the search engines to start indexing the site or the pages.
